The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) bundles all
research-related EU initiatives together under a common roof playing a
crucial role in reaching the goals of growth, competitiveness and
employment; along with a new Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP),
Education and Training programmes, and Structural and Cohesion Funds
for regional convergence and competitiveness. It is also a key pillar
for the European Research Area (ERA).
The Commission’s proposals for the FP7 Capacities programme
aim to enhance research and innovation capacities throughout Europe and
ensure their optimal use. The Capacities programme is provided with a budget of EUR 4 097 million
SELFMEM is funded by the European Community, in the frame of the 7th
work program for research and technological development. The program
started in September 2009 for 36 months. The total budget amounts 5.2
Million Euros.

The 6th Semi-annual Meeting will be held on 29 February and 1 March 2012 Meeting venue: A.N. Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds (INEOS) Russian Academy of Sciences Vavilova str. 28 119991 Moscow
Selfmem partner: INEOS (I. Erukhimovich)
The Institute of Organoelement Compounds of the
Russian Academy of Sciencesof Sciences (INEOS) was founded in 1954. The credit of its creation
is mostly due to prominent scientist, the President of the USSR Academy of
Sciences, academician A.N. Nesmeyanov (1899–1980), who has founded the modern
chemistry of organoelement compounds. He headed the Institute for 26 years. His
successors as directors of the Institute were Members of the Academy of Sciences
A.V. Fokin who headed INEOS in 1980 to 1988, and M.E. Vol’pin (1989-1996). Since
1996 Professor Yu.N.Bubnov, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), has
been in charge of the Institute.
At present INEOS is a large research centre with 664
employees, including 564 scientific researchers, among them 77 Professors (Dr.Sc.)
and 248 Ph.D. researchers.
INEOS is a internationally recognized research establishment,
where the chemistry of organoelement and macromolecular compounds is developed.
Its reputation as a scientific centre in chemistry is very high both in Russia
and abroad. Many outstanding scientists who initiated new directions in organic
and organoelement chemistry, polymer chemistry, physical chemistry, and physics,

The 4th semi annual SELFMEM meeting will be held in Belgium february 2011; 24-25 ( University of Louvain /Université Catholique de louvain (UCL)
SELFMEM Partner Pr. Jean-François Gohy The meeting will gather representative of the 8 academic and 4
industrial partners including from Germany (GSKSS, program coordinator),
UK, Belgium, Russia, Switzerland, France, Canada,The Netherlands,
Cyprus, Israel.
SELFMEM efforts are placed on modeling and simulation, virtuality,
mathematics and chemistry towards industrial and biomedical applications
aiming at controlling and studying the structure and properties of
heterogeneous polymer systems such as block and graft copolymers and
biopolymers. This includes the design, synthesis and functionalizing of
complex macromolecular structures using a variety of polymerization
strategies, as well as an extensive characterization of their structural
and transport properties.

Institute of Polymer Research
The Institute of Polymer Research is divided in the Centre for
Membranes and structured Materials in Geesthacht and the Centre for
Biomaterial Development in Teltow.
Scientists in Geesthacht
develop membranes and techniques for environmental and resource
conserving applications in chemical processes as well as polymeric
nanocomposites for structural lightweight applications. Meanwhile, there
are activities in Teltow which focus on the development of biomaterials
in the field of regenerative medicine.
